10/30/09 Ms. Vanosdall

Last week, we were treated to a fine theatrical production, last night the choirs gave a wonderful concert performance, our downstairs hallways are brightened with student art, and the marching band regularly pumps us up – What talented students we have in the fine arts! 
Thanks to all the teachers that coach these students along and bring out their talents.  

10/29/09 Cross Country Team
The following students had an amazing cross country season!
Many of these athletes have run at least 5 days a week all summer and this fall.  They have individually logged over 600 miles since May and have done so in Cool Springs traffic. 
May their hard work, determination and perseverance ingrained over these miles be a testament to the fact that we here at Centennial are COUGAR STRONG!

Felix Garcia won 1st place for Program cover design after fierce competition.  Competitors represented 27 to 32 states and multiple submissions from each state.

Congratulations to our own Susanna Singleton who ran and completed the Chicago marathon on Sunday!!!  26.2 miles!  Way to GO!!!

Merche’  Moore was selected by the Jobs for America’s Graduates National Board to sing the National Anthem at our opening ceremonies November 18th Merche’ is the first student from Tennessee to be selected to sing at the opening ceremonies. President Barack Obama and several members of Congress are expected to attend the event.  700 students representing 32 states along with some 300 additional attendees (teachers, specialists, school superintendents, local, state and national leaders will be at the event.

Over the weekend, the JROTC Raider Team took 1st place overall in the Tennessee Commando Challenge, in the co-ed division.

Congratulations to the following students for there selection into the All State/ Mid State & Freshman Honors Choirs:
All State: Allison Blanchard – Mid State, Mixed;  All State Alternate SSA.
Mid State:
Tayla Lammers – Mixed, Lauren Lloyd – Womens, Sandra Kennelly – Womens, Chloe Poole – Womens, Savannah McIntyre – Womens.
Freshman Honors:
Victoria Longorino – Freshman Treble, Christian Lloyd – Freshman Treble.

9/14/09 Golf

Congratulations to the girls golf team for advancing to the Regional tournament next Monday.
They turned in a score of 164. Leading the way was Jessica Kubulak with a score of 77.  Jessica finished 3rd overall.
Also congratulations to Steven Hovis who will advance to the Regional tournament as an individual.  Steven finished with a score of even par 72.

9/04/09 Volleyball

The volleyball team lost to Independence yesterday in a 4-game district match, but turned it around and beat Franklin 3-0. Angela Conners had 10 kills and 10 blocks in the Independence game. Courtney Horvath had an outstanding day as well. Thanks! Sharon

The girls beat Brentwood today. Bria Norris shot a 36!!! This is an excellent achievement at Brentwood Country Club as it is not an easy course. Not only that, but the TSU coach came to watch and saw her birdie a hole. Please congratulate her if you see her.
Both Steven Hovis and Kody Pruitt shot a 37! This was their best score yet! Please congratulate Steven and Kody as well!

Centennial High School is the only Williamson County high school to be nominated for the A.F. Bridges award by TSSAA for the 08-09 school year.  In order to be on the list of nominees, the school cannot receive any UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT during the school year in any sport.
Congrats to our athletes for excellent sportsmanship throughout  last year.   

8/10/09 Golf

Our girls participated in the Bruin Invitational today at Old Natchez Country Club.

Our girls team got 2nd place! Not only, that but Jessica Kubalak was 2nd place individually overall!!! And Bria Norris was 6th place individually overall!!

Jessica Kubalak scored a 79 for second place falling close behind Ravenwood’s Natalie Turk that got first place with a 77. Bria Norris shot an 83 for sixth place.
