Despite having
to reschedule this year's event for a day later due to the snow, we
were overwhelmed by the turnout on Sunday afternoon, March 9th.
Everyone had obviously heard about the delay through Mrs. Tidwell's
connect Ed message or through word of mouth because we had 400+
community members to attend this years FES dinner/auction. We were
so very grateful that so many people came out to support us!
We served a catered ham dinner this year. We also offered a
childcare fun-room with a blow-up slide, a bouncy house, and a DJ
(all sponsored by Fox Insurance). Our theme for this year's auction
was Guitars, Lyrics, and
Everyday Heroes. As the FES fourth graders sang "American Tears"
and "God Bless America," a slideshow paid tribute to everyday heroes
around town and volunteers for their tornado relief efforts. We had
entertainment by Fairview's very own singer/songwriter Roxie Dean.
We have had many people to comment about how impressive Roxie was.
One quote from Preston Jones, a former musician, was: "I was blown
away by your entertainer, Roxie Dean. I am not easily impressed but
I can't say enough about how great I thought she
was!"
Thanks to the support of the Fairview community at this year's
Fairview Elementary dinner/auction, we were able to raise
approximately $20,000.00 dollars for the FES PTO. One hundred
percent of these proceeds will be
spent on our ever-growing after-school enrichment clubs & tutoring
program, additional technology to assist in the classrooms and other
necessities needed for enhancing the education of Fairview
Elementary Students!
We wish to thank all of the helping hands that made this event
possible. We would also like to extend a special thank you to
everyone that attended for your dedicated support this year.
Sincerely,
FES PTO
