The winning quilt block by Oak View Elementary School fourth graders.

Some Oak View Elementary students have turned what they like most about fourth grade into an award winning quilt block.  Mrs. Laura Bailey's fourth grade class is the 2007 Grand Prize Winners of The Museum of the American Quilter Society's annual School Block Challenge. 

The School Block Challenge is a national competition challenging students in grades K-12 to work in groups of two or more to create 16-inch quilt blocks.  Schools were given packets with three fabrics and students were required to use all three in their blocks.  This year saw nearly 60 blocks from eight states.

The Oak View students created their quilt block titled "What I Like Best About 4th Grade Is..."  Students involved are Elizabeth Brackins, Allyson Collins, Phoebe Doyle, Tommy Galbato, Emily Grayson, Kayla Gilbert, Allie Harmon, Abbey Hill, Chad Irvin, Erica Jimenez, Patrick Keogh, Adam Martin, Garrett McIntyre, Dustin McKinney, Blake Nelson, Chandler Petty, Katie Pierce, Matthew Pisani, Austin Sanders, Ruth Smith, Erick Vigil, Isaac Webster and Alyssa Zerillo. 

Their block will be on display with the other winners at the Museum of the American Quilter's Society located in downtown Paducah, Kentucky from January 24 through March 24.
