OAK VIEW ELEMENTARY TEACHER
SURPSIED WITH BIG AWARD

Oak View Elementary Principal Denise Goodwin had a hidden agenda when she called a staff meeting May 10.  It turns out the meeting was actually called to celebrate first grade teacher Lindsey Fedoryshyn winning the Wal Mart Foundation's Teacher of the Year Award.

Oak View parents Fred and Debbie Vail wrote a nomination letter for Ms. Fedoryshyn, and it was that letter that helped win her the award.  Fedoryshyn was presented with a $100 Sam's Club gift card to be used in her classroom, a plaque, and Oak View Elementary received a $1,000 check on Fedoryshyn's behalf. (CLICK HERE to read Fred and Debbie Vail's nomination letter.)

"This is very overwhelming and completely unexpected," said a very surprised Fedoryshyn.  "But it just reinforces why I do what I do, and I'm just very appreciative of the parents and students and very honored."
