PAGE MIDDLE SCHOOL
HOLDS ART AND MUSIC CELEBRATION

Page Middle School students perform on guitar during the school's music and art celebration.

Students at Page Middle School celebrated the end of the first nine-week grading period by presenting a guitar recital and art exhibit for parents. Parents were invited to attend each of the six music classes to hear students play songs on guitar.  Each grade level performed a different program based on the unit of study for their grade.  Eighth graders performed reggae music, the blues, and a popular song.  They performed bass and rhythm parts while reading music notation.  Seventh graders performed six songs from their study of the history of American Popular Music since 1950.  Sixth graders performed folk songs, a Chinese song, a rock song, and Rocky Top.

The music students and visiting parents joined the art students following the recital to view an art exhibit on display outside of the art room.  The art students selected their favorite work to mat, title, and display. They chose from a variety of prints, paintings, and drawings from the portfolios they had created throughout the course. Tables also displayed their ceramic sculptures which included gargoyles, Mimbres bowls, and Oaxacan animals.  Parents and students enjoyed refreshments following the art show.  Music teacher Marian Brown and art teacher Andi Davis planned these special events.
