Issue 6 - October 12, 2006

     Welcome to the sixth issue of IN FOCUS.   As the title of this issue suggests, it's break time around here.  But don't worry, IN FOCUS isn't taking any breaks! We're continuing to bring you all the great news coming out of Williamson County Schools.  But it's going to be a quiet couple days, because Williamson County students and teachers ARE getting ready to take a break!  Fall break for Williamson County Schools starts tomorrow, October 13, and goes through October 17. 

     This week we're making up for having no video in the last issue!   You can view a video profiling Hunters Bend Elementary School's "Literacy Learning Initiative" which is serving as a model for the rest of Williamson County.   You can also read about and view a video on K-12 Planet, which allows Williamson County middle school and high school parents and students to monitor grades and attendance online.   There is a profile of Williamson County Schools College Night which brought out nearly 1,000 parents and students to the CoolSprings Galleria.  Also, be sure and check out the WC-TV Teacher Feature video.  You can also find out how to nominate your favorite teacher for this award. 

     Other highlights this issue include information on several Williamson County schools that were recently awarded music grants from the Brentwood/Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce.  Plus, we have an update from last issue: Fairview Elementary School has been named a State Title I Distinguished School!  You can also read about a Crockett Elementary School student whose award winning artwork is on display at a local restaurant. Also, you can read about how Page Middle School students recently put on an art and music show to mark the end of the first grading period. We have an update on the construction progress at the new Longview Elementary School in Spring Hill, and the new Nolensville Elementary School.  We also have information about the groundbreaking at Nolensville Elementary happening October 22.  Plus, this is parent-teacher conference season, so we have some tips on how to make the visit with your child's teacher more productive.
