SUMMER CAMPS

Williamson County Schools will host several summer programs and camps this year to keep students mentally and physically active during the summer months.  These activities foster student interest and growth in academics, athletics and the arts.  Below is a list of some of the summer programs and activities that will be offered this year.

SACC DAY CAMP

Registration has begun for an exciting summer camp hosted by the Williamson County Schools School Age Child Care (SACC) program.  Let the Games Begin is a 10 week long summer day camp that will be held May 29 through August 3 at numerous locations throughout Williamson County.

The camp will include a balance of child selected activities as well as staff directed games, crafts and enrichment projects.  SACC day camp is open to Williamson County residents whose children have completed kindergarten through 5th grade.  Pre-K students who have attended a Williamson County Schools pre-K program may also attend.  Select this LINK for additional information including how to register for this year's SACC day camp.

ENCORE

ENCORE is back for another summer!  The district's popular summer enrichment program will be held at 10 schools this year.  Registration has begun at several locations so anyone interested should contact the individual school for additional details.  Below is a list of the dates and times for ENCORE camps this summer.

  • Allendale:  June 11-15

  • Chapmans Retreat:  June 4-8

  • Clovercroft:  June 18-22

  • Crockett:  June 18-29 (This is a full two week session)

  • Heritage: June 11-15

  • Lipscomb:  July 9-13 & July 16-20

  • Kenrose:  July 16-20 & July 23-27

  • Oak View:  July 9-13

  • Sunset and Nolensville:  June 11-15 & July 9-13  (Both are located at Sunset)

  • Winstead:  July 16-20

BHS SUMMER FRESHMAN ACADEMY

April 20 is the deadline for students to apply for the 2012 Summer Freshman Academy at Brentwood High School.  This annual event gives rising freshmen an opportunity to experience fundamental concepts through engaging activities and integrating core content subjects. 

The Summer Freshman Academy will be held June 11-14 from 8 a.m. until noon each day.  There is no cost to attend, but space is limited.  Select this LINK for more information about the Freshman Academy or to print off an application.

ESL SUMMER'S COOL

Williamson County Schools will once again offer ESL Summer's Cool! enrichment classes for English language learners.  Funded by a federal grant, this program is free and only for students who are enrolled in Williamson County Schools for the 2011-12 year and receive direct ESL services. 

At ESL Summer's Cool!, students will continue to develop their English language skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing while participating in academic study and hands-on activities.

These optional classes are May 29 through June 22.  Classes are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.  The summer school program will be held at Kenrose Elementary in Brentwood and Longview Elementary in Spring Hill. 

Anyone interested in registering for ESL Summer's Cool! can pick up a registration form at their child's school.  The deadline to register is May 11. 

GIRLS TEC CAMP

The annual Girls TEC Camp for female students who will be entering eighth grade next year will be held June 4-8 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.  This year's camp will be at Centennial High School.  Girls will learn about networking, communications, engineering, architecture, technology, law and hospitality, to name a few.  The cost is $50, which includes lunch each day and a t-shirt. 

The deadline for REGISTRATION is May 4.  Space is limited and reservations will be held according to the date the application is received.  Contact Rebecca Collins at 472-4063 for more information.

KIDS ON STAGE SUMMER ACADEMY

Founded in 1996, the Kids on Stage Summer Academy is one of the most popular summer camps in the county.  The mission of this camp is to provide world-class experiences in the visual, performing and technical arts that empower students to be self-disciplined and lifelong learners.  Classes are often taught by award winning artists, songwiters and musicians.  This year's Summer Academy will be held June 4-9 and June 11-16 at Hillsboro School in Leiper's Fork and is open to all Williamson County students in grades two through 12.  Additional information and on-line applications can be found by going to the Kids on Stage WEBSITE or by contacting Gene Cotton at info@kidsonstagetn.com.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY SHOW CHOIR CAMP

Get ready to sing!  The Williamson County Show Choir Camp will make its debut this summer for students in grades four through eight.  This unique camp will be held June 18-20 at Centennial High School.  Those who attend will take classes in voice, solo coaching, stage make-up, hair, audition preparation and dance.  The week will conclude with a performance Friday, June 20.  The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day.  The cost is $150 per student ($100 per aditional child).

YAY CAMP

Calling all aspiring students of the theater!  Registration has begun for the second annual Young Actors Yearly Camp.  This year's camp will be held July 16-20 at Independence High School in Thompson's Station and is open to all Williamson County students in grades one through eight.  Classes are taught by students in the Independence High School theater program and may include improvisation, comedic acting, puppetry, theatrical dance and make-up, to name a few.  The camp runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day and will conclude Friday, July 20 at 4 p.m. with a special student showcase for parents and friends.  The cost is $125 per student ($100 for each additional child).
