SEARCH UPDATE

Williamson County
Board of Education members are visiting the
school districts of two Director of Schools
finalists. That was the decision of the group
during a special called meeting August 24.
Board Chairman Pat Anderson is making a site visit to the
Marana Unified School District in Marana, Arizona,
the former district of candidate Dennis Dearden
where he served as superintendent. Susan
Graham and Barry Watkins are visiting the Butler County School
District in Greenville, Alabama, where candidate
Mike Looney currently serves as superintendent. In addition, other Board members will be
conducting phone reference checks with the
candidates’ former employers: for Dearden, Fairfax
County Public Schools, Fairfax, Virgina, and for
Looney, Montgomery Public Schools in Montgomery,
Alabama.
The Board will then
meet on Wednesday, September 2 at 8 p.m. to select a
new Director of Schools and begin contract
negotiations. In an attempt to improve
communication with the WCS community, we here at
IN FOCUS will attempt to alert the
public of the Board's selection immediately after
the vote with an IN FOCUS News Flash. |
