MUSIC/THEATRE

GRASSLAND ELEMENTARY PRESENTS ANANSE! EARLY IN THE DAY

Students at Grassland Elementary School will have the unique opportunity to perform with a group of professional puppeteers on October 15.  The Wood & Strings Theatre will be in town to perform Ananse! Early in the Day, a musical tale inspired by West African folklore.  Parents and community members are invited to attend the performance which is free and will begin at 6:30 p.m.

LONGVIEW ELEMENTARY PRESENTS GET IN SHAPE

Get in shape with the boys and girls at Longview Elementary School.  Third graders will present an original music program called Get in Shape on October 15.  The Longview music and physical education programs collaborated on this project, which stresses the importance of staying active.  It all gets underway at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium.  The performance is free.

HERITAGE ELEMENTARY PRESENTS HELP THE ANIMALS

Come join the students at Heritage Elementary for a night of music.  Fourth graders will lift their voices October 29 for a special program called Help the Animals.  The event, which is free to attend, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Heritage Elementary School in Thompson's Station.

SUNSET MIDDLE FALL CHOIR CONCERT

The Sunset Middle School Choir will serenade parents and students at its annual fall concert November 3.  The event begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Sunset Middle School gymnasium.  It is free and open to the public.

BRENTWOOD HIGH PRESENTS THE CURIOUS SAVAGE

Greed and dishonesty are at the center of this tale about a slightly eccentric, extremely wealthy widow who tries to help a group of social misfits with her inheritance.  The Curious Savage is a comedic play about a woman named Ethel P. Savage and her greedy stepchildren.  Members of the Brentwood High School Theater Department will perform the play November 5-7 at 7 p.m. and November 8 at 2 p.m.  Tickets will be $5.

BRENTWOOD MIDDLE PRESENTS MAKING SCENES

Brentwood Middle School will host its fall production Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m.  Making Scenes is a collection of one-act plays, monologues and oral interpretive performances.  This show will provide the students with some valuable experience as they prepare to take their acts to the Woodland Forensics Tournament on Saturday, November 7.

INDEPENDENCE HIGH PRESENTS THE WIZARD OF OZ

Take a trip down the yellow brick road with the students at Independence High School.  The school's newly revamped drama department, now known as T-Time Productions, will perform the The Wizard of Oz November 12-14 at 7 p.m. and November 14-15 at 2 p.m.  Don’t miss your chance to catch this classic featuring Dorothy, the Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch of the West.  Tickets will be $8 at the door.

 WOODLAND MIDDLE FALL CONCERT

The musical talents of the Woodland Middle School Band will be on display at the school's annual Fall Concert.  This special event will take place Thursday, November 19.  There is no charge to attend the performance which will begin at 7 p.m. at Woodland Middle School.

LONGVIEW ELEMENTARY PRESENTS MOTHER GOOSE ROCKS

Rock out with the kids at Longview Elementary School.  On Thursday, November 19, kindergarteners will perform Mother Goose Rocks - a collection of songs featuring nursery rhymes set to popular music.  The show starts at 6 p.m., so don't be late.  There is no cost to attend.

HERITAGE ELEMENTARY PRESENTS SPACED OUT

Get "spaced out" with the boys and girls at Heritage Elementary School.  On November 19, third graders will perform this fun musical for the entire community.  The performance, which is free, will begin at 6 p.m. at the school.  

SUNSET MIDDLE SCHOOL TALENT SHOW

Who's got talent?  The students at Sunset Middle School do, and they're ready to show it off at the school's annual talent show.  The event will be held December 1 in the Sunset Middle School gymnasium.  Tickets will be $5 per person.

BRENTWOOD MIDDLE CHORUS CONCERT

Get into the holiday spirit with the students at Brentwood Middle School.  The eighth grade chorus class, the Sunrise Chorus and the sixth grade chorus will present a winter concert on December 10 at 7 p.m. in the Brentwood Middle School theater.  There is no cost to attend.

WOODLAND MIDDLE PRESENTS BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Step into the enchanted world of this modern classic with the students from Woodland Middle School as they present Beauty and the Beast March 11-13 at 7 p.m. and March 13-14 at 3 p.m.  This fairy tale centers on the young Belle who is drawn into the magic of a new world when she is held against her will in the Beast's castle.  Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
