VETERANS DAY EVENTS


Students at Woodland Middle School observe Veterans Day

BRENTWOOD MIDDLE

Brentwood Middle School will have its annual Veterans Day Celebration at Brentwood High on November 11 at 8:30 a.m.  Patriotic music will fill the air as students pay homage to our nation's heroes.  Once the program has ended, the veterans in attendance will be invited to return to Brentwood Middle School for breakfast from 9:30-10 a.m.

FRANKLIN HIGH

As part of Franklin High School’s ongoing 100 year Celebration, FHS will honor all veterans on November 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Franklin High School Auditorium.  Attendees will enjoy music and a special slideshow presentation.  In addition, diplomas will be issued to former Franklin High School students who did not graduate because of their involvement in World War II.  If you have any pictures that you would like to submit or questions about the event, please contact Helen Gatlin at 472-4469.

GRASSLAND ELEMENTARY

Grassland Elementary School will honor veterans November 11 with a 15-20 minute program.  This special event will begin at 9 a.m. in the school gymnasium and will feature several guest speakers.  Following the program, the student body will lead the audience in singing a few patriotic songs.

GRASSLAND MIDDLE

Grassland Middle School will hold its annual salute to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces on Wednesday, November 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the school gymnasium.  The program will include performances and presentations by the GMS band, the eighth grade chorus, drama students and JROTC cadets.  There will also be a video montage of former Grassland students who have served in various branches of the armed forces.  All parents, grandparents and other relatives of GMS students are invited to participate in this program.

HERITAGE ELEMENTARY

You are invited to attend Heritage Elementary School's annual Veterans Day assembly on  Wednesday, November 11 at 9 a.m. in the school gymnasium.  The assembly will feature a slideshow presentation honoring our veterans.  If you have any family photos of veterans you would like to include in the presentation, send them to Erin Grugett at ering@wcs.edu.  In addition, the school asks that all veterans planning to attend RSVP by either emailing Erin or calling her at 472-4524.

NOLENSVILLE ELEMENTARY

Nolensville Elementary School will host a special Veterans Day program called We Celebrate America on November 11 at 2:30 p.m. and November 12 at 6 p.m.  Both performances will take place inside the school gymnasium.

SCALES ELEMENTARY

Scales Elementary School will host two Veterans Day programs this year.  The first performance, which will be for parents, will take place on Thursday, November 19 at 7 p.m.  The school will host a second performance for grandparents on Friday, November 20 at 10 a.m.  Each program will include a series of patriotic and inspirational songs.  There will also be a power point presentation featuring photos of family members who have served in the military.

SUNSET ELEMENTARY

Sunset Elementary School will have its annual Veterans Day celebration on November 6 at 2:15 p.m.  On this day, the students at Sunset Elementary will honor the brave men and women who risked their lives for our freedom.  The presentation, which will include patriotic music, will take place inside the school gymnasium.

WINSTEAD ELEMENTARY

Fifth graders at Winstead Elementary School will participate in a special Veterans Day program November 11.  The program will include patriotic music, a guest speaker and a slide show of Williamson County residents who gave their lives during World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.  There will be three separate performances.  Check with the school for specific times.

WOODLAND MIDDLE

The students and staff at Woodland Middle School will mark Veterans Day with a special program for veterans and active duty personnel.  Hosted by Master Sergeant Rodney Whaley, the Veterans Day assembly will feature many patriotic sights and sounds.  It will be held on Thursday, November 11 at 8 a.m. in the Woodland Middle School gymnasium.
