SCHOOL LUNCH PRICES

School lunch prices will remain the same as last year.  Prices are $2.25 at elementary schools and $2.50 at middle and high schools.  An adult lunch is $3.00 for county employees and staff and $3.25 for guests. Holiday lunches are $5.00.

Breakfast prices are $1.50 for students at elementary, middle and high schools, and a la carte items are available as well.  Employees and visitors will pay a la carte for breakfast items.

More than 16,900 meals are prepared daily for students, and parents are encouraged to take advantage of a computerized system that allows parents to pay for their child’s school meals in advance.  The system also tracks the food their child is purchasing.  More information regarding procedures will be shared by each school.

The food service department continues to focus on ways to improve its meals with new menus developed by the food service staff.

This year the schools will use zero-trans fat items as well as zero-trans fat oil in its products.

Food Services Manager James Griffith said that his department continues to provide the latest healthy choices that meet all state department and USDA requirements as well as making available a variety of a la carte items to students, teachers and employees.

“Our focus is to improve food quality, food preparation, increase promotions for school lunch and school breakfast week, and marketing and merchandising," said Griffith.  “This coupled with our new wellness policy that will be in place, will offer many challenges for the upcoming school year.”

"Also, with a new wellness coordinator on board, we will continue to emphasize good nutrition choices as well as nutrition education and physical activity," adds Griffith.  "We are developing a web page, too, that will be helpful to parents with links to nutritional information."

Williamson County cafeterias are licensed by the Tennessee Department of Health and inspected twice annually by the same agency.  Health department scores are rated on a scale of 100.  The average sanitation score in Williamson County Schools is 96.
