Williamson County Schools honored its Teachers of the Year during a ceremony and reception on Wednesday, February 6. Each school selected a teacher to be recognized, and from those, the district selected a system wide Teacher of the Year at the elementary, middle and high school levels.  

Kenrose Elementary’s Amy Rankin was named the Elementary Teacher of the Year. She is the school counselor.  At the middle school level, Robert Gibson of Brentwood was selected; and at the high school level, Laurette Carle of Independence was chosen for the top honor.  The system wide Teachers of the Year were selected by committees with membership guidelines established by the State. They will be eligible to receive regional honors which will be announced in the spring. If they are selected in the region, they will be eligible for statewide honors. The State’s Teachers of the Year will be announced in the fall.

Elementary building level Teachers of the Year include Reagan Burrage, Bethesda; Laura Wellhousen, Chapman’s Retreat; Barbara Jackson, College Grove; Rose Gonzales, Crockett; Beth Kolwyck,  Edmondson; Mandy McClure, Fairview; Susan Tyree, Grassland; Margaret Smith, Heritage;  Myra Romeo, Hillsboro; Jerzine Johnson, Hunters Bend; Cynthia Gatlin, Lipscomb; Anne Nussle, Longview; Pat Butner, Nolensville; Nicole Revette, Oak View;  Katie Lane, Pinewood; Heather McHugh, Scales; Sherry Baylor, Sunset; Leigh Ann White, Trinity; Teresa West, Walnut Grove; Sandy Duke, Westwood; and Amy Floyd, Winstead. 

At the middle school, building level Teachers of the Year are Tracy Vaughn, Fairview; Holly McAllister, Grassland; Tawny Browning, Heritage; Ellen James, Hillsboro; Jamie Harper, Page; Timothy Drinkwine, Sunset; and Angie Prosise, Woodland.  

High school building level Teachers of Year include Shari Bell, Brentwood; Alison Barrett, Centennial; Carol Smith, Fairview; Steve Pantall, Franklin; Linda Brewer, Middle College; Jimmy Baker, Page; and Kari Smith, Ravenwood.
