ISSUE 13
February 12, 2009
IN THIS ISSUE...
Second
grade students at Heritage Elementary School learn how to
operate their own company at a special event called
BUSINESS DAY. Plus, are you
SMARTER THAN A
FIFTH GRADER? IN FOCUS editor Cory
Mason wanted to know how he stacked up so he went back to
school to experience a day in the life of an average fifth
grader. Also, take a trip out to Bethesda Elementary
School for what has to be one of the most
UNUSUAL
FUNDRAISERS around. And get caught up on all the
happenings in the world of athletics with this week's
WCS
SPORTS REPORT.
Some of the
other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS
include an update on the search for a
DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS,
as well as information on how to receive free admission to
the 2009 Williamson County ART
SHOW in Nashville. Plus, we'll tell you about
a very special high school student who
VOLUNTEERS her free time to
helping the families of sick children.
Williamson County Schools
recently held its 2009 TEACHERS OF
THE YEAR ceremony. Find out which teachers
were named the best of the best. Also in this issue, we
have several contests to tell you about. First off,
students can compete for a $100 cash prize by participating
in this year's Family Resource Center
WRITING CONTEST. But
that's not all. Students, parents and staff can also
help win money for their school by taking part in the
WCS ACTIVITY CONTEST.
This week's
PHOTO GALLERY
features more than five dozen snapshots from schools across
the district. Plus, go to our
FUNDRAISER
section and find out how you can be part of an upcoming
concert featuring country music singer and Dancing
with the Stars performer Julianne Hough. And
you'll also find information regarding upcoming performances of
Annie and Beauty and the Beast in the
MUSIC/THEATRE section.
As always, please encourage
others to SIGN UP for IN FOCUS if they do not
already receive it. And be sure and
SEND US any comments or
suggestions you might have. The next issue of IN
FOCUS will be released on February 26. |
