WCS STUDENT COMPETES IN
SPECIAL OLYMPICS WINTER GAMES

FHS student Kenion Carlisle, seen pictured here with Assistant Principal Marlon Ruck.

Congratulations to Franklin High School student Kenion Carlisle for recently competing in the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Boise, Idaho.  Every four years, thousands of Special Olympic athletes from around the world gather at this event to showcase their athletic skills and celebrate the true spirit of competition.

Carlisle was one of only four athletes from the state of Tennessee to attend the games, which were held February 7-13.  Athletes competed in a total of seven sports including snowboarding, figure skating and floor hockey.  Carlisle participated in the Alpine Skiing competitions and placed fourth, fifth and sixth in his events.

In addition to winter sports, Kenion also enjoys activities such as bowling, basketball and swimming.  He also works part-time in the Franklin High School cafeteria.
