STUDENTS GEAR UP FOR
CLEAN BREAK '09

Spring Break is right around the corner.  As students gear up for this annual week of relaxation, the Williamson County Schools' STARS program wants them to know about an upcoming event called Clean Break '09.

Clean Break is a free music experience for high school students across the mid-state.  It will be held Sunday, March 15 from 1-6 p.m. at Nashville's Centennial Park. The purpose of this occasion is to encourage safety and sobriety during Spring Break.

"It's an opportunity for high school students in Tennessee to make a pledge that they will be alcohol and drug-free during their Spring Break," says organizer

Asher Levine.  "In return, they get to come to this free event and be eligible for a variety of prizes and giveaways including free iPods and tickets to see the Nashville Predators."

Clean Break '09 will feature performances by several nationally recognized musicians like Ken Block of the band Sister Hazel, Edwin McCain, the Grammy award-winning group GRITS, Emerson Hart of of the band Tonic and Christian hip-hop sensation Andale.  In addition to the music, students can test their strength on a rock-climbing wall or play Frisbee golf.  There will also be free pizza, ice cream and other refreshments.

A variety of interactive media platforms are being used to publicize the event.  Students can text “cleanbreak” to short code 66937 which will prompt a response message confirming their registration.  They can also call (888) 865-4077 and leave a confidential message to register, which also gives them the option to listen to and leave messages for the artists, celebrities and athletes involved in Clean Break.

For more information about Clean Break '09, simply go to the Clean Break website at www.cleanbreak2009.org.
