WE'RE BACK...
 

Now that Spring Break is over, it's back to business as usual.  This is always an active time of year for Williamson County Schools.  Whether it's prom, ACT exams, or team sports, it seems everyone is staying busy.  In this issue of IN FOCUS you'll find plenty of stories including a concert by the country music group LONESTAR, a program that allows HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS to mentor children in elementary school, and a profile of the Williamson County School's 2008 PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR.  You can also check out many of the sights and sounds from this year's READ ACROSS AMERICA event. 

Although the school year is not over yet, it is time to start thinking about next year.  This issue of IN FOCUS features information about KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION and a reminder about the deadline to apply for OUT OF ZONE APPROVAL.  Some of the other stories you'll find in this edition include information on how students can tryout for the elite Hot Shots JUMP ROPE TEAM, details about a new ANTI-TOBACCO CAMPAIGN, and a look at how one local organization is helping students excel in the classroom with a DICTIONARY GIVE-AWAY.  Plus, you can also find a list of teams which will compete in the upcoming DESTINATION IMAGINATION state tournament, and a preview of this year's SHINING APPLE AWARDS ceremony which honors Williamson County Schools' top volunteers.

There are a number of school plays and musicals that will take place in the coming weeks including Ravenwood's production of West Side Story.  Be sure and check out our MUSIC/THEATRE section for all the details.  Plus, we also have several new entries in our STUDENT SPOTLIGHT and TEACHER FEATURE sections, so you'll want to check them out as well.
