Williamson County Schools
has been recognized for keeping students safe while
searching the Internet. The Top 50 recognition is
made by netTrekker d.i. Safe Search Awards Program.
This new program recognizes districts that are keeping
kids safe when searching the Internet and that are
providing an “extremely successful district-wide
implementation” of the search engine. WCS ranked 34th
in the U.S. for its work in conducting safe searches.
Use was measured by the number of Internet searches
conducted in the school district.
Williamson County Schools
teaches Internet safety as part of the instructional
program for all students. In addition, the iSafe
program has been implemented to teach students Internet
safety through counselors, teachers, and librarians in
grades K-12. Implementation of netTrekker d.i. search
engine has been led by elementary academic
specialist/Tech Coaches and high school Tech Coaches.
All Williamson County teachers are to be commended for
teaching students safe and effective ways of conducting
research on the Internet.
