DSYLEXIA MEETING
SCHEDULED

Despite its place as the most
common learning disability in children, dyslexia is
frequently misunderstood. According to experts, no two
people with dyslexia are exactly alike because dyslexia
ranges from mild to severe. In addition, about half of
all children with dyslexia also have
attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. ADHD and
dyslexia are distinct conditions that frequently overlap,
thereby causing some confusion about the nature of these two
conditions.
On Monday, May 4, Dr. David
Elkins will discuss dyslexia, ADHD and other issues at the
Williamson County Public Library. Dr. Elkins is a
clinical psychologist who specializes in dealing with ADHD.
He will address the many emotions that might affect a child
with ADHD or dyslexia. Dr. Elkins will also discuss
ways in which parents and teachers can encourage youngsters,
as well as adolescents, to be successful by using strategies
that work.
Parents and educators are welcome to attend. The
meeting will take place
Monday, May 4 at 6 p.m. at the Williamson
County Library located at 1314 Columbia Ave, Franklin, TN
37064.
If you plan on attending, please RSVP to
