MUSIC/THEATRE

SUNSET MIDDLE PRESENTS THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE

Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young woman who has just moved to the city in search of a new life.  Sunset Middle School's Vocal Department will perform this merry musical May 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium.  Tickets will be $5 at the door.  

FRANKLIN HIGH PRESENTS ONCE UPON A MATTRESS

A ruthless queen tries to keep her son from getting married in the musical Once Upon A Mattress.  The Franklin High School Theatre Arts Department will perform this hysterical comedy May 1-3.  Watch as Queen Aggravain does everything in her power to keep Prince Dauntless the Drab from marrying a princess.  The performances will begin May 1 at 7 p.m.  There will be two performances on Saturday May 2.  The first will be held at 2 p.m. and the second will begin at 7 p.m.  The final performance will take place Sunday, May 3 at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $7.  Children five and under get in free.

PAGE HIGH PRESENTS CELEBRATION OF THE ARTS

The Page High Theatre Department will sponsor a Celebration of the Arts May 1 at 7 p.m.  The night is dedicated to showcasing the many talents of Page High School students.  It will be an evening full of visual and performing arts.  Selected works from Page High art students will be displayed in the lobby.  On stage, the students will sing, play music and act.  There will also be videos made by students from the Page High Media Production team.  The ticket box opens at 6:30 p.m. and the celebration will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.  Admission is $3 at the door.  Please come and support the arts at Page.

RAVENWOOD HIGH PRESENTS FORENSICS SHOWCASE

Don't miss out on the seventh annual RHS Forensics Showcase.  This year's event will be held May 5 at Ravenwood High School.  The evening will feature a number of performances from award-winning students, as well as a performance from the 2009 State Champion Interpreters' Theater Cast of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  The school will also hand out team awards and announce next year's team officers.  It all gets underway Tuesday, May 5 at 7 p.m.  

RAVENWOOD HIGH PRESENTS MUSIC 4 MUSIC

Country music singer and Dancing With the Stars champion Julianne Hough will be among the performers May 7 at the 5th Annual Music 4 Music event at Ravenwood High School.  Hough will join singer-songwriter Steve Wariner, and RCA Nashville recording artist Chuck Wicks for an evening of story and song.  The money raised from this event will benefit the Ravenwood High School Band.  The evening will begin with a silent auction from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.  There will also be a VIP reception from 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for fans who wish to meet the country music stars.  The show itself will begin at 7 p.m.  General admission tickets are $25-$45.  Tickets including the VIP reception are $75.  For tickets and information call (615) 776-3028, or send an email to music4musicrhs@gmail.com
