TWO WCS SCHOOLS HONORED BY STATE

Two Williamson
County Schools were recently honored for performing in the
top 10 percent in the state in reading, language arts and
math during the 2006-2007 school year. Heritage
Elementary and Pinewood Elementary were among the 27 schools
statewide to receive a Title I Academic Achievement Award.
Title I is a designation given to schools where a
significant percentage of students come from economically
disadvantaged backgrounds. According to the state, both
Pinewood and Heritage were honored for their
exceptional academic performance and for meeting the
adequate yearly progress goals of No Child Left Behind for
two consecutive years.
"It is wonderful to
honor the hard work evident in this accomplishment," said
Acting Education Commissioner Tim Webb. "Local
educators and students should take pride in the example they
have set for the rest of the state." This award
program is based on performance on the annual Tennessee
Comprehensive Assessment Program. |
