WALK ACROSS WILLIAMSON
WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Walkers wave as they participate in the WxW celebration on April 18.

During the months of February and March, 18 Williamson County Schools participated in an activity contest associated with Walk Across Williamson.  The contest was sponsored by the office of Coordinated School Health.

Schools were given the opportunity to develop activity groups with a minimum of 12 members.  The goal was to complete a minimum of 6,000 minutes of activity over the two months.  Each school far exceeded this goal, logging a total of 1,826,841 minutes of activity. That's almost three times more than last year.

These schools also competed for mini CSH grants.  Top awards were determined based on total number of activity minutes submitted for the top ten finishers.  Those who met the minimum requirements were rewarded with $100 participation awards.  These grants will be used to support the Coordinated School Health initiative within each respective school.

The winners were announced at the W x W celebration walk on Saturday, April 18.  The emcee was Laura Faber, former Fox 17 news anchor.  The Saturday event included local vendors and prizes.  The entire group also participated in a special walk to celebrate the value of physical activity.
