HIGH SCHOOL LATE START INFORMATION

Late start days have begun in Williamson County high schools.  Teachers have the opportunity to meet weekly to collaborate and discuss teaching methods.  Each high school will have late start days one day allowing teachers to have planning time with each other.  Ravenwood High School successfully piloted this program during the second semester of 2006.  The Williamson County School Board approved the program to be implemented district-wide.

"Allowing teachers to have common planning for the purpose of improving instruction is the focus of these late start days," says Williamson County High Schools Director Dan Hampton.  "These days will allow teachers who are teaching in similar subject areas to collaborate and discuss teaching methods and techniques that are or are not working."

On the late start days, the school day will start 45 minutes later than the normal start time on these late start days. Buses will run on a normal schedule, and if a student arrives at school at the normal start time on these days, they will be appropriately supervised.

The days each school is participating is as follows:

Brentwood High - Monday
Centennial High - Monday
Fairview High - Monday
Franklin High - Monday
Independence High - Tuesday
Middle College High - Wednesday
Page High - Wednesday
Ravenwood High - Monday

Anyone with questions should contact Hampton at (615) 472-4093.
