FUNDRAISERS

HUNTERS BEND ELEMENTARY INVEST IN YOUR CHILD

Starting Friday, September 12, Hunters Bend Elementary School will begin its Invest in Your Child campaign.  The money from this fundraiser will help pay for large ticket items like classroom rugs and school-wide lamination machines.  The donations will also help provide each teacher with classroom money, as well as pay for the salaries of both the computer teacher and part-time secretary.  Donations will be accepted at the school.  The campaign runs through September 26.

WALNUT GROVE ELEMENTARY FIELD OF DREAMS

The 2008 Field of Dreams donation drive kicks off Monday, September 15 at Walnut Grove Elementary School.  The donations from this fundraising campaign will be used to promote healthy lifestyles through the construction of a walking track on campus.  A suggested donation of $65 per student is greatly appreciated, however, any amount, whether more or less, will help WGES reach its goal of $32,000.  For more information, contact Melissa Arend, donations coordinator, at arendm@bellsouth.net.

   WINSTEAD ELEMENTARY WILDCAT WALK

On Friday, September 19, students at Winstead Elementary School will participate in the school's fourth annual Wildcat Walk-a-thon.  Leading up to the event, the students will attempt to collect donations or pledges from relatives, neighbors and other community members.  On the day of the walk-a-thon, the students complete as many laps around the track as possible.  The money that's raised will be used to improve school technology through the purchase of computers and other items.

CHAPMAN'S RETREAT ELEMENTARY CHEETAH FEST

There's something for everyone at Chapman's Retreat Elementary School's Cheetah Fest.  The annual event will be held on Friday, September 19, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.  Each class is in charge of its own game booth so there will plenty of activities to entertain the kids.  Some of the games include football toss, ring around a Coke and rock climbing.  There will also be a silent auction featuring more than 75 baskets full of goodies like Titans tickets.  And don't forget about dinner.  Families can have their choice of pizza or pasta for a small price.

RAVENWOOD UMBRELLAS FOR SALE

Stay dry and support Ravenwood High School at the same time.  Team 2012 is currently selling Raptor Umbrellas.  There are two styles: a 60-inch black and red golf umbrella and a compact red folding umbrella.  They sell for $20 and $10 respectively.  Order forms can be found in the Ravenwood front office or call Linda Hughes at 373-4190 for more information.

KENROSE ELEMENTARY FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Enjoy dinner, games and a silent auction at Kenrose Elementary School's Family Fun Night.  The event will be held Friday, September 26, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the school.   Students can enjoy free carnival games.  The silent auction will include theme baskets which were put together by each classroom.  For information on how to purchase dinner tickets, contact the school at (615) 472-4630.

FAIRVIEW HIGH'S 2ND ANNUAL FALL CAR SHOW

Rev up your motor.  It's almost time for Fairview High School's second annual Fall Car Show.  The auto show will be held Saturday, September 27 at the high school from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.  More than two dozen show classes will be represented.  Car registration will cost $20.  Admission is free for spectators although donations will be accepted.  For more information, call Tim Hobbs at (615) 472-4400.

WESTWOOD ELEMENTARY MCDONALD'S NIGHT

Who knew helping out a Williamson County school could taste so good?  On Tuesday, September 30, teachers at Westwood Elementary will be working at the Fairview McDonald's from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.  Westwood will receive a percentage of all the purchases made during that time.  One hundred percent of the tips the teachers earn will also go to the school.  Parents are urged to come out and support Westwood on this night.

SUNSET ELEMENTARY FALL FESTIVAL

Mark your calendars.  It's time for parents and students at Sunset Elementary School to start gearing up for the third annual Fall Festival.  The fun-filled afternoon will take place Saturday, October 25, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.  There will be plenty of inflatable toys, games and food at this year's Fall Festival, which has become one of Sunset Elementary School's most popular events.  Contact the school at 472-5020 for more information.

AN EVENING WITH MICHAEL MCDONALD

The man behind such classic hits as I Keep Forgetting and Taking it to the Streets will help raise money for the Franklin High School Band.  Grammy award-winning artist Michael McDonald will perform Saturday, November 1 in Collins Alumni Auditorium on the Lipscomb University campus.  The performance begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are $35 each.  To purchase tickets, click on this LINK and fill out the order form.  All proceeds will benefit the Franklin High School Band.
