WCS UNVEILS PARENT CONNECTION

Williamson County parents may soon receive text messages informing them of their child's grade.  It's just one of the many exciting features of a new program that allows parents to monitor their child's academic progress.  The program is called ParentConnection and it replaces K12Planet which has been used by Williamson County Schools the past two years.

Williamson County Schools Instructional Technology Coordinator Belinda Moss says ParentConnection will allow parents to view their children's assignments, grades and attendance online.  "A special feature will allow parents to set triggers to inform them of certain events," says Moss.  "For instance, if a student's grade dips below a certain level, the parent will receive automated notification."  Trigger notifications can be sent as email or even a text message to a cell phone.

Grade information is visible to the parent as soon as the teacher enters it into the grade book.  Starting now, parents of students in six through twelfth grades will be able to use ParentConnection to view their children's assignments, grades and attendance.  Parents of elementary students will be able to use the system in the spring.  Each middle and high school is currently in the process of communicating the steps for requesting accounts to their school community.

To support a safe and secure system, accounts are approved by building administration before access is granted.  For more information contact Belinda Moss at 472-4078 or the GradeSpeed School Administrator at each school.
