PINWHEELS FOR PEACE

 |
In this
age when conflict and war is becoming all too common, it is
easy to take peace for granted. On September 21, several
Williamson County Schools made a small contribution to
world, or in this case, "whirled" peace. Edmondson,
Lipscomb and Grassland Elementary Schools participated in
the "Pinwheels for Peace" project in conjunction with the
International Day of Peace. |
|
Students
created pinwheels, and planted them outside their schools.
Themes of patriotism, peace, and all sorts of artistic
creativity were displayed.
"Pinwheels for Peace" was started in 2005 by two art
teachers in Florida as a way for students to express their
feelings about what is going on in the world. An estimated
one million pinwheels were planted in 2006 in more than
2,400 worldwide locations. |
