WCS Child Nutrition
Director James Griffith retired October 30, 2008

After nearly two decades in the business, a familiar
face among Williamson County Schools' employees is
calling it quits. Child Nutrition Director James
Griffith, known affectionately as "Griff",
retired last month. Griff began his career as
Director of Food Services for Williamson County
Schools in 1990. For the past 19 years, he has
worked tirelessly to ensure that every Williamson
County student has access to a healthy meal.
On
October 30, a retirement party was held for Griff
at the old Nolensville Elementary School.
Hundreds of friends and co-workers from across the
state dropped by to wish him the best in his new
endeavors, and to reflect upon the good ole' days. |

When asked what he has enjoyed most about working
for Williamson County Schools, Griff says several
things come to mind. "I've enjoyed seeing the
professional growth of our employees and meeting the
ever present nutritional challenges in
the child nutrition arena," said Griff.
"It feels good knowing that if we feed the bodies then
educators can feed the minds. You can't teach
a hungry child."
As for his plans for
the future, Griff
says he will continue to consult with Williamson
County Schools a couple of days a week. He
also looks forward to spending as much time with
family as possible. "Retirement brings more
time to spend with my grandchildren," said Griff.
"I would also like to do a little cross country
traveling. I have always wanted to take Route
66 from Chicago to California." |
