FRANKLIN REBELS COMPETE
FOR STATE TITLE

Fans cheer at the FHS Sonic Hometown Radio Rebel Rally on December 3.

The Franklin High School football team will have another shot at winning its first state championship this weekend.  The Rebels face the Oakland High School Patriots in the 5A TSSAA State Championship Game on Saturday, December 6.  Kick-off will begin at 7 p.m. at MTSU's Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro.

The last time Franklin played for the state title was in 2004.  The Rebels lost that game to Riverdale by a score of 35-7.

This week, hundreds of Franklin High School students, parents and fans showed their rebel pride during a rally for the football team.  The Sonic Hometown Radio Rebel Rally was held Wednesday evening at Howard Gamble Stadium and broadcast live on WAKM AM 950.  It was taped and will air on WC-TV Friday at 9:30 p.m. and again Saturday following the Franklin-White Station game which begins at 10 a.m.

Williamson County Director of Schools Dr. Rebecca Sharber, Franklin Mayor John Schroer and Franklin High School head football coach Craig Clayton took turns firing up the crowd and congratulating the team on a fantastic season.  Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson even issued a proclamation honoring the 2008 Franklin High School football team.

Tickets to Saturday's championship game can be purchased through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Franklin High School for $10 each, with a portion of the proceeds going to the school.
