GOVERNOR'S SCHOOLS

The
deadline is rapidly approaching for students who would like
to attend any of the state’s 12 Governor’s Schools.
November 1 is the deadline to submit applications for the
Governor’s School for the Arts, and November 30 is the
deadline for all other Governor’s Schools.
Tennessee’s Governor’s Schools program offers challenging
summer study experiences for college credit hosted by
various state universities. “Governor’s Schools give
Tennessee students the chance to engage in an accelerated
curriculum in a university setting,” Education Commissioner
Lana Seivers said. “Students completing these programs get
an early start in college credit and a taste of the rich
educational experience an advanced education can provide.”
Tennessee
is launching three new Governor’s Schools this year. The
schools will focus specifically on high-level math and
science skills. The School for Computational Physics, The
School for Emerging Technologies and The School for
Scientific Models and Data Analysis each introduce students
to advanced studies, include site visits to top research
facilities and provide interaction with leading scientists,
engineers, researchers and mathematicians.
Applications for all 12 Governor’s Schools are now online at
www.tennessee.gov/education/govschools. |
