QUESTIONS BY FRESHMEN AND THEIR PARENTS
Below are a few questions and
answers we thought students and parents may want to know:

Q: Who are the
guidance counselors?
A: Visit the

Q: What
supplies will we need to purchase for high school?
A: Each
teacher has their own required fees for supplies and materials specific to each
content area and class. Students will learn what they need the first week of
class. Parents must pay separately for supplies and
materials in each class rather than write one check. The usual supplies paper, pens and pencils
are needed for all classes.
Q: What is the
procedure to pay for lunch?
A: Students can
pay for their lunch day to day or they can put money on their account for the
week or month, whichever works better for you. This account is handled by the
cafeteria staff on the first day that lunch is served. We serve breakfast and
lunch daily. Breakfast is ala carte ranging from .50 -
$1.50 and Lunch is $2.50.
Q: How do I
communicate with my child’s teachers regarding their progress?
A:
Parents are
strongly encouraged to establish a K-12 Planet account after school starts where
they may regularly check progress in each class. Also parents may communicate
directly with teachers via e-mail, telephone or by arranging an appointment to
speak with them face to face.
Q: What are the
procedures I need to follow for my child when they are absent, tardy, or need to
arrange an absence due to a family emergency or vacation?
A: When any
student is tardy or absent they must report to Student Services to give the
reason for being tardy or absent. A note from the parent or doctor is required.
Any planned family vacation that will require a student to miss school must be
pre approved. Contact Mary Kivilaan at 472- 4225 for any questions about school
absences, tardies or early dismissals.
Q: When will
students receive their class schedule, lockers and textbooks?
A: Freshmen
will receive their class schedule, locker and textbooks during their orientation
on August 9, 2007
Q: If my child
can not attend orientation may they receive their schedule and textbooks early?
A: No
schedules, lockers or textbooks will be available prior to August 9, 2007. Students who are not able to attend
orientation will receive their class schedule, locker and textbooks s on Monday,
August 13, 2007.
Q: I am
interested in my child attending the Summer Freshman Transition Academy. June
11- 29, 2007. Is it to late to sign up? (See brochure for details)
A: No. We have
