Mr. Hatley’s World History Class Food Tasting From the New World

It was not Fear Factor in Mr. Hatley’s world history class, but it was food tasting from the new world.  Ms. Mollye Stanford, Mr. Hatley’s student teacher, facilitated a food tasting exercise in order to demonstrate the new foods that explorers found when they originally came to north and Central America.

Tomatoes, potatoes, peanuts, coco, and corn were some of the new foods that became stables throughout Europe in the Sixteenth Century.  As the pictures demonstrate, it was very entertaining to all.

Mr. Hatley’s World History Class Computer Scavenger Hunt

What is a Computer Scavenger Hunt?  About every two weeks, Mr. Hatley's Standard World History class ventures into the computer lab to research various web-sites to find out information about historical topics

Recently, Mr. Hatley's Standard World History participated in a computer scavenger hunt to discover facts and information about the Black Death.  The overall objective of this activity was to draw comparisons between the Black Death and the AIDS virus affecting the present.  The exact handout can be located on Mr. Hatley’s webpage under world history documents.
