BHS had 13 winners in the Scholastic
Arts Competition. These students were
recognized at an awards ceremony on Sunday,
January 20th at Cheekwood, and their work will
hang at Cheekwood onJanuary 23
until February 24.
Many of these pieces will continue to New York
for national competition.
The Art Club recently discussed the
controversial abstract sculpture that was
installed along the Riverfront in downtown
Nashville. The students decided that an artist’s
creative output need not be dictated by public
opinion, but should strive to educate the public
about art and design. In response, they created a
conceptual sculpture from found materials which they
installed in the Junior courtyard. The students had
a great time as they discussed the philosophy of
public art, and experimented with hands on design.
