
YALSA (Young Adult Library Services) Book Lists and Book Awards includes the following:
Alex Awards given to ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18. The winning titles are selected from the previous year's publishing.
Best Books for Young Adults a final list of 91 significant adult and young adult titles. The books, recommended for ages 12-18, meet the criteria of both good quality literature and reading appeal for teens.
Best Books for Young Adults Top Ten are chosen as the 10 best picks from the 91 best books for young adults (above list).
Great Graphic Novels for teens YALSA's newest selection list, Great Graphic Novels for Teens
Margaret A. Edwards Award honors a specific author for his or her lifetime contribution to young adult literature, it also singles out specific works by that author for special recognition.
Michael L. Printz Award an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.
Outstanding Books for the College Bound recommended checklist for excellent reading; it is revised every five years as a tool for several audiences--students preparing for college, educators, librarians, and parents-- it offers opportunities for independent reading and lifelong learning.
Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults
Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers books that teens, ages 12-18, will pick up on their own and read for pleasure. The list is geared to the teenager who, for whatever reason, does not like to read. The list is not intended for teenagers with reading disabilities, though some of the selected titles may be appropriate for those teens. Teen input is a vital aspect in the final decision of the committee.
Selected Audiobooks The titles have been selected from the past two years of spoken word releases. They have been selected for their appeal to a teen audience, the quality of their recording, and their enhancement of an audience’s appreciation of any written work on which they may be based.
Selected DVDs annual selected list of best DVDs and videos for young adults.
Teens' Top Ten national teen book discussion groups evaluated books that were published from January 2004 through October 2005, and created a list of 78 nominations for the best new books for young adults. Teen voters across the country then cast ballots during Teen Read Week in October for their three favorites, creating the annual Teens’ Top Ten booklist of the best new books for young adults.
Volunteer State Book Award The Volunteer State Book Award is sponsored annually by the Tennessee Library Association in cooperation with the Tennessee Association of School Librarians. Each year, teens are asked to read books from a list of nominated YA titles. In the Spring, those students who have read or listened to at least three of the titles from the list are eligible to vote for their favorite. A winner is picked from across the state of Tennessee for the 7-12 category. .
