Grade Level: 10 Credit: 1-Full Year Recommended Prerequisite: English I English II is a comprehensive course covering poetry, short stories, drama, essays, and novels written by world authors. Students concentrate on vocabulary development through root study and prepare for the Gateway Exam and other standardized tests. Grammar units focus on usage, subject-verb agreement, and correct punctuation. Students write compare/contrast papers, fictional stories, assorted essays on TCAP prompts and present a speech on a persuasive topic. A research paper incorporating MLA documentation is required in all classes. Both standard and honors levels are offered.
