Eighth Grade General Music (9 Weeks)
This is
a nine weeks course in which students concentrate on Western
European music, from the medieval period through the 20th
century.
Student experience the genres of
opera and musical theater.
In
addition, handbells are used to encourage score-reading and
ensemble participation.

Seventh Grade General Music (9 Weeks)
The goal of all levels of general music is to broaden the
student’s bas of knowledge and appreciation for a variety of
styles of music through singing, listening, playing, moving,
reading and creating music.
In the seventh grade, musicianship and note-reading
skills are continued with Orff instruments and beginning
handbells. Students
study American music styles including ragtime, blues, jazz, and
pop.

Sixth
Grade General Music (9 weeks)
The goal of all levels of General Music classes is to broaden the
student’s knowledge base and appreciation for a variety of music styles
through singing, listening, playing, moving, reading and creating music.
Students learn songs from various cultures of the world while
improving note-reading skills and basic musicianship.
Many of the songs are also transferred to Orff mallet and
percussion instruments, enabling students to experience music making and
ensemble playing.
