| STARS exists to help students refrain from the use of alcohol, other
drugs and violence. It also works to enhance students educational
achievement and character development. At Brentwood Middle School,
we have a very active STARS program led by Ms. Patsy Cornelius.
She is assisted with the STARS activities by a CORE team made up by
faculty members at Brentwood Middle and a student-lead SEC (STARS
Executive Council). Group meetings, which involve small groups of
students and group facilitators, are held on a weekly basis.
The SEC (STARS Executive Council) is lead by Mr. Jeff Adams and Ms.
Teri Schoof. Students selected to be members of the SEC must
complete an application process and sign a contract indicating their
commitment to the activities planned by the SEC. Last year,
members of the SEC attended a leadership retreat; conducted a very
successful Red Ribbon Week which included a teddy bear drive during
which we collected over 100 stuffed animals; a collection drive for the
Bridges of Williamson County foundation; and week-long celebration for
all students maintaining their STARS commitment. |
