Maggie Tucker, art teacher at BMS,
was honored on Friday, February 5 during the National Education
Association's "Excellence in Education" Symposium and Gala in
Washington, D.C. She spent Friday morning with 38 other educators
from throughout the United States, discussing challenges and
opportunities confronting teachers in America. Friday evening,
participants attend the black tie Gala, highlighted by a speech from the
Children's Television Workshop, creators of Sesame Street.
Kristi Thoni has recently
been named TASC (Tennessee Association of Student Councils) middle
level advisor for the year.
As a result of this honor, Ms. Thoni
will be nominated for the Warren E. Shull advisor of the year award
from the NASC (National Association of Student Councils).
Ms. Thoni has been the advisor of the
Brentwood Middle Student Government for 6
years and currently teaches Leadership
to all grade levels.
