Brentwood Middle School

Code of Conduct (Behavioral Expectations) at Brentwood Middle School

WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY STUDENT HAS A RIGHT TO LEARN, AND EVERY TEACHER HAS A RIGHT TO TEACH.   Students who choose not to meet these expectations by making inappropriate choices detailed below should expect the corresponding consequences.  Each teacher may have additional expectations for their individual classrooms, but this plan outlines the minimum expectations for all Brentwood Middle School students.

Nonnegotiable rules for BMS which will be referred to an administrator:

  1. Students, teachers and visitors may not chew gum at school. No food or drinks in classroom including water.  Gum is messy and rarely disposed of properly.  When food and drink appear in a classroom, computers are ruined.
  2. Students may not leave school grounds during the day without permission from an administrator and his/her parents or legal guardian.
  3. Students are not allowed to be in the building after 3:00 PM unless they are under the direct supervision of a teacher, coach, or administrator in a designated area.  Coaches and teachers must stay with students until they are picked up.  Students who are not picked up on-time may lose the privilege of participating in that sport or activity.
  4. Students should not have a public demonstration of affection (PDA-kissing, touching of private body parts.)
  5. Students should not engage in the inappropriate use of technology (computer privileges will be removed).
  6. Students may not have electronic devices (cell phones, walkie talkies, Ipods, PPS, etc) visible during the school day.  The best plan is to keep these in your locker.
  7. Students will have their agendas with them which have been signed by the classroom teacher at the time involved giving them permission to be going to a designated area.

All disciplinary incidents are subject to the discretion of the administration.  Administration may deem to change the consequences for students who have repeatedly made poor choices.
