BMS Dress Code
Please dress for success. Clothing and accessories should not be
distracting to either the wearer or those who must look at the wearer.
Clothing that is too revealing or suggestive causes too much of a distraction
for other students. Thus BMS has established a no skin
and no underwear showing (anything that is worn under external clothing) policy.
Brentwood Middle School
students should be clean, neat and appropriately dressed every day.
- Pants must be worn above the hips
and fastened to remain in that position. Pants cannot have writing
across the seat.
- Leggings are not
considered pants and must be worn under regulation length garments.
- Shorts, skirts or dresses must be no
shorter than 5” from the floor when on one's knees.
- Cut-off clothing articles with
frayed edges or clothing with worn or torn holes are not allowed.
- Hats, caps, scarves, skullies,
bandanas, sunglasses, and sweatbands are not to be worn in the building.
- See-through clothing or tank tops
(including those with spaghetti straps) and midriffs (all tops which bare
any portion of the torso even when sitting) are not allowed.
- There shall be no visible
undergarments. (Straps are included)
- Clothing may not be worn that have
logos depicting cigarettes, liquor, sex, profanity, or double meaning or
those that are deemed crude, vulgar, or obscene are not allowed. Clothing
demeaning of gender, race, or nationality are not allowed.
- No accessory that could be harmful
(such as dog collars, chains, safety, pins, rubber bands, etc.) can be worn
in the building.
Teachers will refer
students who violate the dress code to the main office and administrators will
enforce the dress code policy. The principal or his/her designee shall be the final judge to the
compliance with the dress code. Students that choose to wear inappropriate
clothing will be given clothing to replace the inappropriate clothing or asked
to call home for a change of clothes to be brought to school. if new
clothing is not provided, students will be asked to remain in the office.
