Students must be picked up no later than 3:00 p.m. Parents of students left at 3:00 p.m. will be notified that they are in violation of their out-of-zone attendance agreement or that they are breaking school policy. Repeated violations will require that the student ride the bus home. TRAFFIC/DROP-OFF For your child's safety, PLEASE drop your child off on the flag pole side of the school. Parents need to use the first two lanes in the morning when dropping off students. PLEASE follow the signs and only pick up and drop off students in the designated areas. The third lane, next to the flagpole, is for parents to use to park and enter the building. For afternoon pick up parents should use the first and third lanes. The center lane is to be used for exiting the area only. Please do not stop in the center lane to load your child. Also, students who ride with Brentwood High students and are walking from the Brentwood High parking lot must walk along the fence row to Brentwood Middle, not through the parking lot. For safety reasons, we ask that you please drop off and pick up your child on the Granny White side of the school only. Do not park in the Brentwood High parking lot and have your student walk to meet you. A student should only ride the bus to which he or she has been assigned. Any student who needs to ride home with another student due to emergency type situations, must have a note written and signed by parents or guardians. This notes should be brought to the office and the office will issue a bus pass. Phone calls and emails are not accepted as they violate the state law concerning this issue. Failure to obey the school bus driver may result in denial of school transportation rights. The decision regarding the disciplinary action is made by the school administrator. Students enrolled in the YMCA Fun Factory, need to bring only one note at the beginning of their enrollment period. Students not enrolled in Fun Factory, but going to the YMCA, need to bring a note daily and these students need to be at least 12 years old. Student Crossing We have a dedicated "student crossing" area on Granny White Pike for student walkers. The crossing area is just north of the Brentwood Middle exit, next to the Foxland Hall entrance. This dedicated crossing gives the students the right-of-way to cross Granny White. Please observe the speed limit of 15 mph in the school zone area, and please come to a complete stop at the "crossing area" when students are present. |
