First, let me officially welcome you to the Brentwood Middle School Website.  BMS is a 2006 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.  This school is truly unique because of its students, parents, faculty, and vision for the future. This year we are emphasizing the "Power of One."

Currently, we have 1035 students.  The design of the school allows us to divide them into thirteen 6th grade, fourteen 7th grade, and fifteen 8th grade homerooms.  Thus, students really only see 22-25 students at a time in content area classes.  BMS students are able to choose from numerous athletic and co-curricular activities, and the students always score very well on the NCLB testing. Additionally, they seek philanthropic work with numerous local groups and agencies.

BMS parents are the most supportive that I have ever known.  Their funding of projects has allowed the school to be a viable part of the technological world of the 21st century, not always playing catch up.  They have assisted in helping to fund the updating of materials in the library.  Currently, they are working to add to our fine arts equipment so that we can improve on our offerings in that discipline, refurbish the library, and continue to bring state-of-the-art technology to every classroom.

The faculty which numbers 88 with 66 of these as teachers is committed to helping students achieve to their up-most potential.  Seventy-five percent hold advanced degrees and all are highly-qualified in their content areas.  The faculty is a hardworking group of individuals who are constantly honing their craft so that they can be better.  They have high expectations for everyone-most especially me. They work collaboratively to provide the structure that students need to reach the WCS goal of one year's academic growth.

BMS is a child-centered organization that works to develop the ability, intellect, and character of each student. The vision of BMS is that all students will function at or above grade level in all areas, but they will also be aware of the social, emotional, physical, and academic growth needed to be successful at the next level of life.  To provide the social and emotional support needed, BMS utilizes STARS (Students Taking a Right Stand), Golden Vikings, The Power of One, the Junior National Honor Society, and class trips.  Likewise, we emphasize the importance of cultural diversity with powerful Black History month explorations.

Please stop by BMS and let use give you a tour, discuss your concerns, or attend one of our parenting sessions.  I look forward to meeting you.
