Transportation Department
Williamson County Schools recognize the
transportation of students as an essential part of our public education
system and requires the cooperation and devoted efforts of many
individuals. It is the goal of Williamson County Schools to provide
eligible students the safest and most efficient transportation service
in the country.
The Transportation Department is
responsible for daily bus operations, dispatching buses, fleet
maintenance, safety and driver training. During the 2005 - 2006 school
year over 18,500 students enrolled for bus service to and from school
making over 3 million students riding a school bus during the school
year. Williamson County
Schools currently has the eighth largest bus fleet in the State of
Tennessee with 228 employees. The fleet consists of 204 school buses –
170 regular ed and 34 special education. These units drive
approximately 14,500 miles each day or almost 2.5 million miles yearly
taking students to and from school. These miles do not include miles
for athletic trips, mid-day special education programs, field trips or
special summer programs. |
