If a student intends to ride a bus different
than their assigned bus or get off at a different bus stop other
than their assigned stop, they must have a note signed by the
principal for the bus driver.
Williamson County Schools recognize the transportation of students
as an essential part of our public education system and requires the
cooperation and devoted efforts of many individuals. It is the goal
of Williamson County Schools to provide eligible students the safest
and most efficient transportation service in the country.
The Transportation Department is responsible for daily bus
operations, dispatching buses, fleet maintenance, safety and driver
training. During the 2005 - 2006 school year over 18,500
students enrolled for bus service to and from school making over 3
million students riding a school bus during the school year.
Williamson County Schools currently has the eighth largest bus fleet
in the State of Tennessee with 228 employees. The fleet
consists of 204 school buses – 170 regular ed and 34 special
education. These units drive approximately 14,500 miles each
day or almost 2.5 million miles yearly taking students to and from
school. These miles do not include miles for athletic trips,
mid-day special education programs, field trips or special summer
programs.
