Purpose: To have local business and professional community leaders give students the opportunity to explore the world of work in relationship to the student’s individual interests, skills, work ethic, and post-secondary choices. The audience: Approximately 2500 eighth grade students will attend. Students from Franklin Special School District and Williamson County public, private, and home schools are invited to participate. Most have completed career exploration curriculum at their schools. In addition to 8th grade students, Williamson County high school students are invited to attend the career fair after school. Student participation: The students will interview 3-5 career role models while at the career fair. The majority of the career role model interviews will be with professionals in career areas in which the student has shown an interest. They will be encouraged to conduct interviews with professionals in career areas in which the student is not interested or knows little about this field. Exhibitor participation: The exhibitor will serve as a career role model for the students. Students will visit an exhibit prepared to interview the career role model. The students will be prepared to ask the exhibitors questions. The exhibitors will not only be prepared to answer questions regarding education/training requirements, job responsibilities, and salary, but will also provide an activity within the booth that will help the career “come alive”. Examples include but are not limited to dressing in “uniform;” demonstrating tools, instruments, and computer programs/software; playing videos, etc. How can you support the World of Possibilities Career Fair? You can help to make this career fair a reality for students. We are seeking: 1) Exhibitors to be career role models 2) Donations or Sponsors to pay for transporting students to and from the career fair 3) Donations or Sponsors to pay for drapes and table rental 4) Donations or Sponsors to cover hospitality expenses 5) Donations or Sponsors to provide programs and maps 6) Donations or Sponsors to provide signage 7) Donations or Sponsors to cover other miscellaneous items The fee to become a sponsor is $200.
