School
History
Our school was established in 1990 for the purpose of providing children
in kindergarten through fifth grade with a quality education in a
supportive learning environment. Our mission, at Crockett Elementary, as
facilitators of learning, is to challenge students socially, emotionally,
culturally, intellectually, and physically in order for them to become
contributing citizens in an ever-changing society. We strive to educate
children to master academic skills as well as to develop their potential,
recognize their dignity and encourage positive self-esteem in order to
promote responsible citizens. When our school initially reached its
capacity, Edmondson Elementary School was split-off in 1995; Kenrose
Elementary School grew from us in 1999; and Sunset Elementary School
opened in August 2005 to once again handle the population growth of this
area.
Site
Based Management
Our school is site-managed and uses School Leadership, Correlate, and
self-directed Design Teams to focus improvement efforts on student
achievement under the auspices of the Superintendent and Williamson County
Board of Education. There are representative from each grade level,
Specials teachers, and classified staff on the Building Leadership Team.

with Report Cards issued at the end of the nine weeks. Parent/teacher
conferences are scheduled by each grade level during each semester of the
school year and additional times as individual conferences are needed.
Ongoing parent-teacher communications is encouraged.
Parent
Support Organization
Crockett Elementary has a very strong and dedicated PTO organization. A
new group of officers brings lots of new ideas to Crockett this year. The
Crockett PTO is very supportive of the school in numerous ways –
especially helping to fund part of the Computer Lab assistant’s salary,
providing additional computers to the classrooms, and offering numerous
hours of volunteer work around the building. Many volunteers are at
Crockett everyday to work with students and to help teachers. The PTO has
a link on the school’s web site with lots of useful information.
Special
Programs
Crockett has several clubs and programs in which children can participate.
They include: 4-H, DARE, Destination Imagination, BEAR Clubs (Be
Enthusiastic About Reading), WCES News broadcasts, Student Safety Patrol,
and Accelerated Reader.
Library/Media Center
Our library collection is over 10,000 items and serves a rapidly
increasing student population of Kindergarten through fifth grade.
Excellent and enthusiastic parent volunteers help our librarian and
library assistant keep the many services to our students and teachers
available. Some of our services include: scheduled and flex classes,
storytelling for the primary grades, the semi-annual book fair, video
taping class programs, ordering, processing, and cataloging materials to
support the school curriculum, Internet access and connection to
encyclopedias and other reference sites via the Internet, a closed circuit
television system for broadcasting videos and live feed throughout the
school, and the Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math programs for all
grades.
Guidance
Crockett has a full time guidance counselor serving
as both a child advocate and leader of a comprehensive development program
that serves all students. The counselor works with individuals, small
groups and entire classrooms serving the needs of all students. The
counselor coordinates school activities pertaining to the school program
such as DARE, Red Ribbon Week, Kindergarten "Boo Hoo Breakfast," "Pastries
for Parents", etc.
Student
Support Services
Our Student Support Services team is a very
strong and integral part of the educational program for children with
special needs. Initial screenings and observations are coordinated through
our guidance counselors, and then referred to our psychologist if testing
is deemed necessary.
