Library Mission Statement
![]() |
The mission of the Crockett Library Media Center program is to ensure that all members of our school community have equal access to materials, to motivate and encourage students to read, to develop a lifelong love of reading for our students, and to become effective users of information and technology. |
Parent Volunteers
We are so fortunate and appreciative to have such an excellent group of parents that volunteer their time to work in our library media center. We maintain a collection of approximately 22,696 items, and we circulate thousands of books and materials each month. We have an average circulation of 4,782 books per month. Parent volunteers work diligently to shelve the returned items which is a tremendous task and it helps to keep the library neat and orderly. We could not do this without the help of this wonderful and dedicated group of parent volunteers. Our volunteers also work at our Fall and Spring Book Fairs. If you would like to be a part of this group, you can contact the library or one of the wonderful and hardworking PTO Library representatives: Susan Rohleder and Julie Horky.
Student Circulation Procedures
| Students may check out two books at a time plus project related materials. A student may exchange their books at any time. The library has open book checkout throughout the day. Books are due within two weeks if not renewed. | ![]() |
Birthday Book Club

Your child's birthday is a very special occasion at Crockett Elementary School. We invite and encourage you to donate a book in your child's name to celebrate their birthday. The cost is $20.00. By doing this, you can teach your child the value of giving as well as enrich our library collection at the same time. If you would like to participate, you can pick up the information in the library, or wait for your child's birthday month and look for the form to be sent home at the beginning of the month. |
The WCES News Team is a group of fifth grade students that produce a closed circuit TV program which airs at 8:35 every morning. These students start out each school morning with the pledge, character pledge, moment of silence, school announcements, weather for the day, daily birthdays, lunch menu, character word of the month, and the thought for the day. The students are chosen at the end of each fourth grade school year for the upcoming fifth grade school year. Requirements for students to participate on the team are good grades, good behavior, and setting and achieving AR goals each quarter of their fourth and fifth grade year.

One of my favorite events at Crockett and our first event of the school year for the library will be the Fall Book Fair. We will also have a Spring Book Fair which will be held March 30 - April 3, 2009. This is an opportunity for you to purchase books to enhance your home library collection, and you might also decide to enhance your child's classroom collection by donating a book in your child's name. This event is very exciting and important to the library. All funds raised by the Book Fair are used to purchase books and materials for the library. Your overwhelming support of these events have made a tremendous impact on increasing our library collection. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Read Across America/Dr. Seuss's Birthday
Read Across America/Dr. Seuss's birthday will be March 2 - 6, 2009. During this week we will celebrate reading along with the wonderful author, Dr. Seuss. We will have daily activities which will include a visit by Herman Parish, the author of the Amelia Bedelia series. His visit will be the week before, February 25th.

Book Publishing Event
| This will be our third annual book publishing event. To promote and encourage reading and writing at Crockett, the teachers and students work diligently to publish student written books. All books will be completed by March 20th and then sent to our publishing company. These colorful and creative hardback books are truly a work of art. In order to celebrate our students' accomplishments we will have a book publishing celebration the first week of May. If you would like to purchase a book, look for the information to be sent home with your student or click on the link for an order form. |
