Library
The College Grove Library provides materials and resources to support the classroom curriculum and encourage the love of reading. Our goal is to support students in becoming independent library users and life long learners with a love of reading. Resources are in the form of print, non-print and electronic materials.
Each student will visit the library once a week during a scheduled 45 minute period and may checkout books. Students may come to use the Library any time as long as they have teacher permission.
Accelerated Reader
The Accelerated Reader program is used as a tool to practice daily reading. Each child sets a personal goal to reach by the end of the school year. Each child reads at their own reading level instead of their grade level. At College Grove we want every child to make at least one year’s growth in Reading We feel that AR gives each child the practice needed to make such growth.
Checking Out books
Pre-K & Kindergarten - 1 book each
1st grade - 5th grade - 2 books each
Damaged Books
Please return damaged books to the library for repair. Accidents can and do happen: pets chew books, younger siblings redesign them, snack boxes leak, etc... Books damaged beyond repair must be replaced. A damage bill with replacement costs will be sent home. Should a page accidentally rip, please return to the library and we will repair the page with special tape.
Overdue Books
There is not a fine for overdue books, however checkout privileges are denied until the book is returned. Books that have not surfaced in 30 days are presumed to be lost. An overdue bill with the cost of replacing the book will be sent home.
Birthday Book Club
The College Grove Library Staff is thrilled to announce an exciting way to recognize your child’s birthday and add to the school’s library collection.
During the month of your child’s birthday, you and your child may select a new book from the “Special Birthday Book Cart” in the library. The book will have a name plate honoring your birthday boy/girl, and the new book title will be announced to the child’s class during library time or in his/her classroom. Your child will have the opportunity to be the first to check out this book from the College Grove Library before it is returned to regular circulation. In addition, a picture of your child posing with his/her selected book will be posted on the “Birthday Book Club” wall outside the library.
To dedicate a book in recognition of your child’s birthday, please fill out the form below and send in a donation of fifteen dollars ($15) payable to College Grove.
Thank you for your support!!!
