TODAY is Sports Day
– Students can wear shirts, sweats, printed pants and/or
hats with printed team logos. Students may also wear
Centennial team clothing including their warm-ups.
If they are wearing a team shirt, but not team pants, they
must wear khaki or navy.
TOMORROW IS Bright Color Day –
Students may wear bright colored shirts, pants, shoes,
skirts, dresses, shorts and socks as long as they are solid
and the correct length.
The exception to that is if the bright colored clothes are
decorated as CHS spirit wear (like a hot pink t-shirt
decorated in bright colors). No tied dyed, no hats, no
black t-shirts with bright color decorations.
Attention all members of
the Homecoming Court and escorts. Please remember to report
directly to the football field at the beginning of 5th
period TODAY for practice for Friday night.

Friday, September 5, 2008 This is an
update on Challenge Day. All Seniors who are participating
in Challenge Day need to be at school by 7:30 on Monday. It
is a late start Monday for our other students but Challenge
Day starts at 7:30 for students and 7:00 for adult
volunteers. We still have 20 openings for Senior students to
participate. The registration table will open at 7:00 the
first 20 students to turn in their signed permission slips
will get to participate.
Every student who turned their form in on Friday will get to
participate in the Challenge Day activities. We still have a
few openings for Juniors and Freshmen to participate in
Challenge Day. You may turn your forms into the office on
Monday if you want to experience the day.
Thank you to all our parent volunteers. We still have
openings for a few more of you if you want to participate,

The first Thespian Meeting of the year
is TODAY after school in the theatre lab! ALL Thespians are
REQUIRED to be there!!!

Then come to the Forensics Workshop!! The workshop is for
anyone who might want to compete in Forensics, acting
competions, this year. Our friends from the Ravenwood
Forensics Team will be there to help us pick pieces and
teach us the ropes! It is Saturday 3-6 in the Multi-purpose
room. Pizza will be provided for dinner.
The PSAT/NMSQT will be given at
Centennial High School on October 15. Taking this test
during your junior year in high school is the only way a
student can qualify as a National Merit Finalist,
Semi-Finalist or Commended Scholar. In addition to National
Merit Scholarship Corporation there are numerous colleges
and organizations offering scholarships to students
nation-wide scoring high on this standardized test.
This test provides excellent practice
for the SAT which is required by colleges as college
entrance exam. Juniors are encouraged to register to take
the PSAT/NMSQT. Sophomores and Freshmen who want to get a
jump start on the PSAT for possible National Merit
recognition are encouraged to sign up to take the PSAT

and helping them to find their way around campus. Wear

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid at
LSU will be hosting Tiger Day on September 6, 2008.
Hundreds of students and parents will have the opportunity
to get a first-hand look of what LSU has to offer. For

class will be picked from your favorite Board Game, Video
Game, etc.

informational meeting about their admission process on
Wednesday, September 17th at 7:00 pm at Harpeth
Hall school in Nashville. It is not necessary to RSVP, but
contact UVA admissions office if you have questions.

Washington University in St. Louis will be
hosting an Admissions Reception on Monday, September 15th
at 7:00 pm at Marriott Nashville. It is not necessary to
RSVP, but contact Wash U admissions if you have questions.

will begin accepting dues NEXT WEEK. Be on the lookout for
the large membership box outside the library. Dues this
year are $7.

dining hall. Classes of 2010, 2011, and 2012 will
elect representative officers. We will also be making plans
for the first two games.

The class begins in October. Space is limited and is
offered on a first come first served basis. See Mr.

This week's senior lunch has changed to Papa John's. They
will offer both cheese and pepperoni pizzas. Individual
slices will be $2, and whole large pizzas will bd $10.
Because we are not doing pre-orders this week, supplies will
be limited--first come/first served while supplies last. If
you wish to purchase the senior lunch, please bring the
correct change for whatever you wish to purchase on
Thursday.
The 2009 Governor’s Schools applications
are now on line and may be downloaded by going to the
Department of Education’s web site at
www.tennessee.gov/education/govschools. The Arts
application may also be downloaded at the MTSU web site at
www.gsfta.org.
No student who has previously attended a Governor’s School
may apply.
