Areas that you can volunteer in at
Chapman’s Retreat Elementary School
Library
– help
out with day-to-day needs such as checking in books, checking out books,
shelving books, straightening shelves, helping children locate books.
Art – helping the art teacher by having an extra set of hands in
the classroom, particularly with the younger ones. Helping the art teacher display the art and
changing that out on a regular basis.
Writing
Wall – helping
to display new writings from the children on the writing wall.
Office – sorting mail, answering phone calls,
directing visitors.
Workroom - copying, laminating, cutting out shapes
and letters, general office work.
Clean-up
– every
Friday coming into the classrooms and cleaning desk tops and other areas with
Clorox wipes to keep the rooms a little more disinfected.
Decorating
- helping
the teachers put up bulletin boards in their rooms, changing their door
decorations or displaying the children’s work outside their classroom.
Teacher Helpers – stuffing folders, grading papers, being
an extra set of hands in the classroom, etc.
Kindergarten
Helpers - helping
on the first day of Kindergarten with getting kids to the right classrooms and
helping to redirect children’s attention so they will let mom or dad go. Helping in the lunchroom during the first two
weeks of school.
PTO
– help
with Chapman’s Charities, CheetahFest, Concessions, Kroger/Publix Cards,
Landscaping, Community Relations, Read Across TN, Recycling, Spring Fling,
Yearbook
