About WCS
Williamson County
Schools is a K‑12 school district with more than 28,600 students
enrolled for the 2007-2008 school year. There are 37 school sites:
eight high schools, seven middle schools, 21 elementary schools, and one
K‑8 school.

For the past two years Williamson County Schools
received straight A’s in achievement and value added on the State
Report Card.

All high schools have Advanced Placement (A.P.)
Programs with 23 different courses offered.

Twenty-one Williamson County students were recognized
as National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists during the 2007-2008
school year.

During the 2006-2007 school year, Williamson County
students continued to earn achievement scores that ranked among the
highest in the State of Tennessee.

The American College Test is a graduation
requirement. Our countywide score of 22.4 exceeded the national
average of 21.1
and the state average of
20.7.

A pre-kindergarten program is in place at College
Grove Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Bethesda Elementary, Heritage
Elementary, Hillsboro School, Longview Elementary, and Nolensville
Elementary. This program is designed to better prepare at-risk
children for successful entry into kindergarten.

Our K-12 student attendance for 2006-2007 was 95.73
percent. That rate surpasses the Tennessee Department of Education
goal of 93 percent.

Our 2007-2008 countywide student/teacher ratios are:
kindergarten through grade three – 19.76:1; grades four through five
– 20.27:1; grades six through eight – 19.71:1; high school – 20.9:1

During 2006-2007 the students in Williamson County
Schools achieved a 93.4 percent promotion rate.

The schools and the
central office are accredited by the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools.

Franklin High School was named as the state’s first
International Baccalaureate school. Implementation of the program
began during the 2000-2001 school year.

The Middle College High School opened with the
1998-1999 school year. Approximately 150 students are enrolled at
MCHS during the 2007-2008 school year.

Over the past five years, our school district has
grown by an average of 1400 students each year.

There are 2197 certificated and 1612 support
personnel in the Williamson County School District.

Approximately 55 percent of the professional
employees have attained an educational level of a Master's Degree or
higher; 40 have a PhD; and 46 have an ED.S.or EDD. The average
teacher salary is $43,196.

There are before and/or after school child care
programs in all of our elementary schools.

Projected expenditures for the 2007/08 General
Purpose school fund budget are $195,769,837.

Our per pupil expenditure for 2006-07 was $7,504,
excluding construction and major capital projects, as reflected by
the State report card.

Our 187 buses transport approximately 18,500 students
a day traveling more than 14,500 miles each day, equaling almost 2.5
million miles each year.

Williamson County Schools’ information can be found on Comcast 3 and
Charter 96. All School Board and County Commission meetings are
broadcast live and replayed the next day. The School Board meets the
third Monday of the month beginning at 6:30 p.m.; the County Commission
meets the second Monday of the month beginning at 7 p.m. Other school
district and county government programs are aired throughout the week.
