School History
Fairview Middle School
was established in the 1981-82 school year. It was originally located in the old high school building on Highway 100 about one-half mile west of the current facility. The current facility was opened in 1988 and has 27,191 square feet of space and houses grades six through eight.

Community
The Fairview Community is located in the Northwest corner of Williamson County in Middle Tennessee.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Conferences with individual teachers can be arranged throughout the school year as parents or teachers see a special need.   The preset dates for conferences in October.

Parent Teacher Organization
The FMS PTO provides opportunities for parents to get involved with their children’s education.  Parent volunteers help classroom teachers as well as sponsor school wide events.  Morning coffee meetings are held in the library at 7:00 a.m. on the first Tuesday of the month.   All are welcome!  Various committees include Indoor and Outdoor Beautification, Fund Raising, TCAP, Athletic Committee, Teacher Appreciation, Bookstore and General Mills Box Tops/Campbell Soup Labels.

Library/Media Center
The librarian is Ms. Annette Patterson. Fairview Middle School has a multi-media library which provides students with opportunities to research and utilize information available in our world.

Academics
Core areas are Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Students in the eighth grade have the opportunity to earn high school credit for Algebra I, Physical Science, Spanish I and French I.

Tutoring
During school students may receive tutoring by their academic teachers in Focus. Tutoring is offered after school with individual teachers on each grade level as set up with the teacher.

Guidance
Counseling services include orientation for new students, individual and group counseling, consultation, peer mediation, transition services, career exploration, coordination of meetings for students with special needs, as well as classroom guidance presentations. School counselors also coordinate and administer the TCAP Test.

Special Education Services
Gifted Resource Consultant, Special Education Consultant, Speech and Language Therapist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, School Psychologist and CDC classes.

STARS                                                                                          Students Taking a Right Stand is very active at FMS.  STARS counselor Mandy Bivens offers weekly support groups on Anger Management, Concerned Persons, Grief and Insight.  The STARS program provides leadership opportunities and has prevention activities including Red Ribbon Week, Assemblies and Service Learning Projects.

Related Arts
Students have the opportunity to participate in the following: Technology, Art, Computer, Physical Education, Life Skills, Music, Band, and Spanish.

Athletics
Fairview Middle School
has a varied athletic program. Offered sports include: Football – Chris Hughes, Darnell Spann, Brayton Hudgins, and Jon Worstall; Volleyball – Dena Abbinante; Cross Country – Donna Bledsoe and Jim Mann; Boys Basketball – Barry Mullens and Brayton Hudgins; Girls Basketball – Donna Bledsoe, and Barry Mullins; Softball – John Conner and Barry Mullins; Baseball – Darnell Spann and Brayton Hudgins; Cheerleading – Tracy Vaughn; Golf – Sara Reynolds; Tennis - Rachel Greathouse; Track - Garrett Jackson and Callie Watts; and Wrestling - Jason Deats and Chris Hughes; Girls Soccer - Gail Weber; Boys Soccer - Tom Daugherty and Dena Abbinante.

A diversity of extra-curricular activities, both skill and academic oriented, exist at Fairview Middle School.
